Bharat Stone

Bharat Stone is located in Village Mudhena, not too far from the HDFC branch in Belsonda. It’s a convenient spot because people often stop by after they finish their bank errands. We keep a lot of different stones in our yard. The village is quiet, which is nice, though the sound of our work can carry quite a bit. We don't have any fancy marketing. We just put the stones out where people can see them. Most of our days are spent loading and unloading trucks that come through Belsonda. It’s physical work and you have to be careful not to chip the edges of the slabs. I’ve been doing this for several years now, and you learn a lot about how different stones behave. My son helps me out when he isn't busy with other things. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and take our lunch breaks. It’s a very straightforward business. If someone needs stone for a project, they come in, look at the piles, and we figure out the price. We don't make big promises or use complicated language. It’s just about having the right material available when someone needs it. The sun can be quite harsh in Mudhena, so we try to get the heavy stuff done early in the morning. That’s pretty much how a normal day goes for us around here at the stone yard.
