Over in Bheemaram, at H No 2-51/A/B, you’ll find our group. We call ourselves Kammaripet Turmeric Farmers Producer Company Limited because that’s exactly what we are. Turmeric is the main thing for us. If you walk around here during the right season, you’ll see the yellow everywhere. It gets under your fingernails and stays there for days. We started this because doing it alone was getting too difficult for everyone. Now, we use this space to gather and sort out who is growing what and how we’re going to sell it this year. It’s a local operation, run by people who actually live here and know the soil. The building is just a part of the neighborhood, and people drop in and out all day. We don't have fancy brochures or a glossy website. We just have our notes and the piles of turmeric that need processing. Some years the weather is good to us, and some years it’s a struggle, but having the company helps us stay steady. It’s not a corporate headquarters; it’s just a place where farmers meet to talk shop and look at the harvest. We keep things simple because that’s what works for us. If there’s work to be done, we do it. Bheemaram is a good place to be, and we’re just glad to be working together as a community of growers. It is a very hands-on way to make a living.
