We are based in Madurai and have been taking photos around here for a long time. It’s a city with so much going on, so there is always something to capture. We don’t have a big, fancy studio in a mall. Instead, we have a small space where we keep our cameras, lenses, and a couple of computers for editing. Most of our work happens out on location. We do a lot of weddings, which in Madurai can be very large and loud events. We spend hours on our feet, trying to get shots of the ceremony and the guests without getting in the way too much. It’s tiring, especially with the heavy gear and the heat. After the event, the real work starts at the computer, going through thousands of images to find the ones that came out right. Sometimes the lighting is bad or someone blinks, and you just have to work with what you have. We also do some portrait work and local events. It’s not a glamorous life like people think. There is a lot of waiting around and lugging bags. We just like taking pictures and being part of the community here. People know us by word of mouth mostly. We keep our prices reasonable because we know how much things cost these days. It’s just us and our cameras, trying to make things look decent on film. We finish late most nights.
