Opal Arts

Opal Arts is based in the S M R Shopping Center. We are on the first floor, specifically at 72/205 on South Masi Street. It’s a very busy part of Madurai H O. Being near Lalitha Jewellery means there is always a crowd outside. The street is famous for being packed with shoppers and vehicles. Finding the shopping center can be a bit of a challenge if you aren't looking closely at the signs. Once you get up to the first floor, it’s a bit more peaceful. Our shop isn't massive. We have things tucked into every corner to make the most of the space. South Masi Street has a very particular energy. You can hear the sounds of the temple and the markets all day long. We’ve been in this spot for quite some time now. The light inside is a bit dim because of how the buildings are squeezed together, but we have plenty of lamps. It’s a very local feel here. Everyone knows everyone else in the building. We spend a lot of time just talking to the neighbors when things are slow. It’s not a fancy gallery or anything. It’s just a place where we keep our supplies and do our daily work. Sometimes the humidity in Madurai makes things a bit sticky, but we just keep the fans running and stay busy with whatever needs to be finished that day. We don't worry about much else besides getting things done and going home.
