Smm Flowers & Export

Our place is at 253 Matthuvani Vaniga Valagam, and if you come by early in the morning, you’ll see us right in the middle of it. The market area is always crowded and there's a lot of shouting and moving around. We deal with flowers, so everything has to move fast before the heat gets to them. Smm Flowers & Export isn't a huge operation, just a few of us making sure the stems are cut right and packed into the cold boxes. It smells great for the first hour, then you just get used to it. The floor is usually wet from the water we spray to keep things fresh. We get the flowers from the local growers and then we have to sort them out by size and color. It's a lot of standing on your feet. Sometimes the trucks are late and we have to sit around on the crates waiting. We drink a lot of coffee from the stall nearby to stay awake. The office part is just a corner with a ledger and a phone that rings more than I’d like. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here at Matthuvani. It’s hard work and your hands get stained, but it's what we know how to do. The Vaniga Valagam is a busy spot and we've been part of the noise here for some time now. We just focus on getting the flowers out the door before the day ends.
