If you head down Market Road, you will find us at Karthick Export. Being on Market Road means it is always noisy and crowded, which is just part of the job. We spend most of our time dealing with the vendors and the transport guys who are always coming and going. It’s a very hands-on kind of business. We don’t spend much time sitting in fancy chairs; we are usually out where the action is. The dust and the noise from the street are just something we live with. We focus on getting the products sorted and ready for export. It’s not always a clean or pretty process, but it gets done. We have a small group of people working here who have been around for a while. We know the local rhythms and when the best time is to get a truck through the traffic. Sometimes things go wrong, like a shipment getting held up, and we just have to stay late to sort it out. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most of our work comes from people knowing we are here on the road. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the boxes moving. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. We don’t expect things to be perfect, we just try to get them right. It’s a lot of hard work, but we are used to it.
