Indian Bank

This branch of Indian Bank is located at Plot No 3 11 in Swami Vivekananda Nagar, which is down in Madurai. It’s a local neighborhood bank, so we get to know a lot of the people who live nearby. If you come in on a Monday morning, it’s usually quite crowded with people waiting to update their passbooks or sort out their accounts. We have a small team behind the counters, and we’re just doing our best to keep the line moving. The building itself is simple and fits right in with the rest of Swami Vivekananda Nagar. It’s not one of those massive glass buildings you see in the bigger cities. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of the fans humming and the dot matrix printer going off in the corner. We spend a lot of time on our computers, but we also do a lot of talking to customers who prefer to handle things in person rather than using an app. Madurai can get incredibly hot, so the bank is often a place where people come for a bit of shade while they do their errands. We don't have any flashy slogans or big promises. We just handle the deposits, the withdrawals, and the loans as they come. It’s steady work, and we like being part of the community here in Tamil Nadu. Everyone who works here is local, so we speak the language and understand what our neighbors need.
