Bhima Jewellery has been sitting here at 62 A Kazimar I St for quite some time now. Madurai is a city that loves its gold, and we are right in the middle of all that history. The street is usually busy with people walking toward the temple or doing their daily shopping. Our shop is not like those giant malls you see in the big cities these days. It is a more traditional setup. We have glass counters where we show the pieces, and we keep some stools for customers to sit on while they take their time looking at everything. The address is 625 001, right in the heart of Tamil Nadu. We spend our days polishing the items and talking to folks who come in looking for something for a wedding or a special gift. It gets pretty humid here in the afternoons, so we keep the ceiling fans going all day long. We do not go for much of that modern marketing stuff you see on the internet. People know where we are because their parents and grandparents shopped here too. It is about the metal and the craftsmanship, not about flashy lights or loud music. Sometimes the street gets blocked by a festival procession, and we just stand at the door and watch it go by. We still keep many of our records by hand because it works for us. It is a quiet kind of business.
