At Charles Exporters, we operate out of No. 49/26 on Annes Convent Street, right by the By Pass Road. It’s a convenient location for us because the heavy trucks can reach us without getting stuck in the narrowest parts of town. The building we are in is nothing special to look at, just a plain structure that fits our needs. Inside, you’ll find a few of us managing the day-to-day tasks of an export business. There is always a lot of writing and recording to do to make sure everything is legal and on time. We don’t go in for big meetings or long speeches. We just get to the office, have some tea, and start on the pile of work from the day before. The noise from the By Pass Road is a constant background sound, but we don’t even notice it anymore. Our space is a bit cluttered with samples and old records, but we know where everything is. It’s a local business, run by people who live nearby. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just want to get the shipments out and keep things moving. Sometimes we have a bit of a laugh when things go wrong, but we always fix it eventually. It’s a practical way of working that has kept us going for years. If you need us, we’re usually here from early morning until the sun goes down.
