Bharath Snacks

Down at Lakshmi Vilas, which is No 2/118 on Veerapandi Road, that’s where we do everything for Bharath Snacks. Omachikkulam is a quiet enough place most of the time, though the road gets its share of traffic during the day. We’ve got a small team here. Most of the time, we’re busy sorting through ingredients or checking the fryers. It’s physical work and your hands are always busy. We don’t spend much time sitting in offices because there’s always a bag that needs moving or a batch that needs checking. The building isn’t new, but it works for what we need. We started out small and stayed that way because it’s easier to see if we are doing it right when you can see everything happening right in front of you. Sometimes we run out of space when a big shipment comes in, so we have to shuffle things around a bit. It’s not always perfectly tidy, but it’s a working kitchen and warehouse. We like the neighborhood here. People know us as the snack place on the way to the main road. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything. We just wake up, come to the shop, and make sure the snacks are ready to go out. It’s a straightforward life on Veerapandi Road, just making food and keeping the business running.
