Our place, Gem Granites Pvt Ltd., is located at 9-6-521 on Ctm Road over in Basinikonda. It’s a decent-sized spot where we handle all sorts of granite work. Being on Ctm Road means we get a lot of trucks passing by, which keeps things feeling busy. We spend most of our hours outdoors or in the big open shed. It’s a physical job, no doubt about it. We’re often moving slabs around to get to the ones at the back. We don't have a fancy lobby or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find one of us covered in stone dust or busy on the crane. We just handle the business as it comes. The granite we have varies from week to week depending on what’s being quarried. We like the work because it’s tangible. You can see what you’ve done at the end of the day. Sometimes the machinery acts up and we have to spend the morning fixing it instead of cutting stone. That’s just life in a workshop. We aren't big on marketing or making things look better than they are. It’s a yard full of rock and a few people who know how to handle it. We stay open until late afternoon and then head home like everyone else in Basinikonda. Sometimes we close a bit early if the work is done and the rain is coming down.
