I’ve been sitting behind this counter at Yishu Stationers for longer than I care to count. Our spot is right here in Firoze Gandhi Market, specifically at SCO-21-FGM on Sleather Road. Traffic outside gets pretty loud most days, but inside it’s mostly just the smell of new paper and ink. Starting this place was just an idea I had because I liked the thought of having my own little shop. It isn't anything fancy, just a local corner where you can grab a pen or some notebooks for school. Some days move slow and I just end up reorganizing the folders or dusting the top shelves where the old ledger books sit. The sun hits the front window around three in the afternoon, making it a bit hot, so I usually keep the door propped open for a breeze. People from the nearby offices pop in when they run out of staples or need a specific type of envelope they forgot to buy. We try to keep what folks ask for, but sometimes we run out and have to wait for the next delivery truck to show up. My nephew helps out on the weekends when he isn't busy with his own things. We don't have a big staff, just us and a lot of boxes. It’s a bit cramped in the back room with all the stock piled up, but we know where everything is. If you’re walking down Sleather Road, you’ll see our sign. It's just a regular life here.
