Working In A Chartered Firm

We work out of the Housefed Complex on Pakhowal Road, specifically at 523/II. It’s near the Phullawal Chungi, so it’s easy to find if you know the area. The name is pretty literal—it’s just a group of us working in a chartered firm, doing exactly what you’d expect. We spend a lot of time in this office, maybe too much sometimes. The complex is a busy spot, and there’s always someone coming or going. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of desks and shelves packed with box files from past years. We handle all kinds of accounting stuff, from the small personal tax returns to the bigger audits for local companies. It isn't always the most thrilling work, but there's a certain satisfaction in getting a balance sheet to finally balance out perfectly. We have a mix of younger staff and some who have been doing this since before computers were even common in offices. We don't go in for fancy titles or corporate jargon. We just talk like normal people and try to get the job done without too much fuss. Some days the coffee machine is the most important piece of equipment we have, especially when we’re staying late to meet a filing deadline. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to do our best by the people who trust us with their numbers. It’s a bit cramped, but it feels like home.
