Sukhmani Powertronics

Sukhmani Powertronics is based in the Subhani Building at the chowk on Brown Road, over in Raviwar Peth. We deal with electrical stuff, mostly things like inverters, heavy batteries, and some power backup systems for homes. It’s a technical kind of business that requires a bit of patience. The shop is usually full of heavy equipment and cables, so there isn't much room to walk around once you get past the front desk. I spend a lot of my time testing old batteries or talking to people about why their power keeps cutting out during the storms. It’s a noisy area with all the horns and vehicles outside, so we often have to shout a bit to be heard over the din. I started this place because I was always interested in how electricity and circuits work when I was a student. It’s not always easy work, especially when you have to lug those heavy lead batteries around the shop. My clothes usually have a few grease stains or bits of dust on them by the time I head home. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop where real things get fixed. Sometimes the power goes out in the whole block, and then everyone comes running to us to see what we can do. We try to help as many people as we can. It’s a practical job and it keeps me busy from the morning until the sun goes down. The building is old but we like it here.
