S.K. Cement

Our place, S.K. Cement, is situated at Plot No. 2661 in Gurdev Nagar. If you know where the Aarti Cinema Chowk is, you basically know where we are because we are right near it. The plot is quite large, which is helpful because we have to keep a lot of inventory on hand. Dealing with cement in a place like Gurdev Nagar means you are always in the middle of some construction or another. The yard gets messy, especially when it rains and the ground turns into a bit of a sludge, but we keep working through it. I spend most of my time out in the yard rather than sitting inside. The cinema crowd makes the area very lively in the evenings, though it makes parking a real headache for our delivery trucks sometimes. We have a small office on the corner of the plot where we handle the money and the orders. It’s nothing more than a chair, a desk, and a lot of old ledgers. We don't really use much technology here, just the basics to keep track of what comes in and goes out. It’s a physical job and it gets tiring, but seeing the stacks move out to new building sites feels alright. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. Most of our neighbors are used to the sound of the trucks by now.
