Ambuja Cement Limited

Kamalpreet Singh runs things here in Chakohi. It is a small place in Ludhiana, just a village really. His father, Major Singh, started with the basics and we have just kept it going. The trucks come in early, usually before the sun is even up properly. The air is often thick with dust from the road and the bags. We spend a lot of time moving things around and checking the stock. It is hard work, especially when the Punjab heat hits in the middle of June. People from the village stop by quite a bit. Sometimes they just want to chat or ask about what it costs for their house repairs. We have a small office, nothing fancy at all. The walls could use a new coat of paint, to be honest. We keep our records in big ledgers and try to stay organized. It is mostly just us handling the day-to-day chores. Khanna is the nearest big town, so we head there for supplies when needed. The roads around the Tehsil get quite muddy when it rains, which makes deliveries a bit of a headache. We just deal with it. There is always something to do, whether it is cleaning the yard or helping a neighbor load up a trailer. It is not a glamorous life, but it is what we do here at Ambuja Cement Limited. We know the neighbors and they know us. Most days end with a cup of strong tea.
