Silk Stich

Being right across from Transport Nagar at B-30 3445/b Heera Nagar means we hear trucks all day long. The noise is just part of the background now at Silk Stich. We started out in Street No. 4 with just a few machines and a lot of empty floor space. Now, it’s a bit more crowded with all the thread, needles, and fabric rolls lying around. We try to keep it tidy, but when you're busy, things tend to end up on the floor. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we all know each other's families and what’s happening in the neighborhood. We drink a lot of chai while we work. If a machine breaks down, one of us usually tries to fix it with a screwdriver before calling a mechanic. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a big marketing team or a fancy website. Most people find us because they saw the sign while waiting for a truck to move. The sun hits the front window pretty hard in the afternoon, so we usually pull the curtains halfway. It makes the room a bit dim, but it’s better than the heat. We just focus on getting the sewing done and making sure the measurements are right. It’s just what we do here, and it keeps us occupied. At the end of the day, we lock up and head out into the Heera Nagar traffic.
