B.S. Handi Crafts

If you walk through Saban Bazar long enough, you’ll find us at Block-7209. B.S. Handi Crafts is tucked away where the market is loudest. I grew up around here, so the noise of the bazaar is just background music to me now. Inside the shop, there are pieces of wood, fabric, and tools scattered about. We spend hours working on different items by hand. It’s slow work and your back starts to ache after a while. The dust from the carving stays on your clothes all day. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It is just a few of us sitting on stools and working on what needs to be finished. The light in the bazaar isn't always the best, so we use a few extra lamps to see the small details. People walk past the door all day, some stop to look and others are just rushing to get their groceries. We keep the finished pieces on the shelves near the front. There’s no air conditioning, just a fan that moves the warm air around. We take our lunch breaks together when the market slows down for an hour. It’s a simple life, making things with our hands and selling them to whoever walks in. We enjoy the craft and the way the market feels on a busy Friday afternoon.
