We’re located at 425/3 in Industrial Area A. If you’ve ever been down this way, you know it’s mostly warehouses and trucks. Pearl Exports & Imports fits right in with the rest of the buildings around here. It’s a practical space. We’ve got high ceilings and concrete floors that stay cold in the winter. Most of the time, the air is filled with the sound of forklifts or people shouting over the noise of the loading dock. We handle a lot of different things coming in and going out, so there’s never really a quiet moment. It can be pretty tiring, standing on your feet all day or checking through inventory lists that seem miles long. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just move goods from one place to another and try not to make too many mistakes along the way. When things go wrong, we just fix them and move on. The office part of the building is just a couple of desks and a filing cabinet that’s seen better days. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the slow shifts. It’s a gritty kind of job, and we usually go home with dirt on our clothes. But it’s honest work, and we’ve been doing it long enough that we don’t think much about the noise anymore.
