Orient Cinema

If you go down to Barewal 52, you’ll find our place. Orient Cinema has been standing here for quite some time, and it shows in the walls and the old floorboards. We aren't one of those massive new multiplexes with the glowing lights and expensive snacks. It’s more of a local spot where you can actually afford to bring the whole family without worrying too much. The projector is a bit old and sometimes it makes a clicking sound that you can hear if the movie gets quiet. We spend a lot of time cleaning up popcorn from under the seats, which is a job that never seems to end. The lobby gets pretty crowded on Friday nights and the air gets a bit stuffy, but people don't seem to mind. We handle everything ourselves, from selling the tickets to fixing the curtains when they get stuck. It’s a lot of work to keep an old building like this running, and there’s always a lightbulb that needs changing or a door that squeaks. We like the history of the place, even if the paint is peeling in the corners. It’s just a simple cinema for the people living around Barewal. We don't have any fancy apps or high-tech stuff, just the movies and a place to sit. Most of our regulars have been coming here since they were kids, and now they bring their own children to see the shows.
