National Cranes And Elevators

You can find us right across from the old Arora Cinema on Gill Road. It is a landmark everyone around here knows. We work with cranes and elevators, which basically means we spend our days covered in heavy metal dust and grease. The shop isn’t much to look at from the street, but we have the tools we need in the back. We spend most of our time out on sites or fixing motors. Sometimes the road gets really busy with traffic and it makes it hard for the trucks to pull in. We have been here long enough that we know all the neighbors. If a machine breaks down somewhere, we try to get to it as fast as we can. It’s dirty work and our clothes are usually stained with oil by the time we eat lunch. We don’t have a fancy waiting room for visitors. Most people who come here are looking for a specific part or need someone to look at a hoist that stopped working. We explain what needs fixing without using any complicated jargon. It is just practical stuff. One of our guys has been fixing these motors for thirty years. He can hear a problem before he even opens the casing. We just keep our heads down and do the repairs. Gill Road is always noisy, but we are used to it. It feels right to be in the thick of things.
