Hawa Singh Sons

Hawa Singh Sons is located in the AC Market on G N E College Road in Civil Lines. It’s a family-run business that has been around for some time. We occupy a shop in the market where it’s a bit cooler because of the air conditioning, which is really nice during the hot summer months. We sell a variety of things, mostly items that people in the Civil Lines area need for their homes or for themselves. It’s a traditional kind of shop. We have shelves stacked high with stock, reaching all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it’s hard to find things quickly but we know our inventory well. My sons and I run the place together every day. We get a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for years and years. They like that they can talk to us directly and we know what they usually buy. It’s not a supermarket style where you just pick things up yourself, we help you find exactly what you need. The market can get quite crowded in the evenings when everyone is out shopping. We try to keep the shop tidy but with so much stuff coming in, it’s a constant battle. We don't do any big promotions or advertising. We just open up every morning and wait for our customers to arrive. It’s a good life in a good part of town. We are happy to be here.
