We are located in Nanak Nagar. If you go behind the New Sabzi Mandi, you’ll find us. Being near the vegetable market means it’s always loud and there’s always something happening outside. Chromatic Packers is basically a place filled with cardboard, tape, and packing materials. We spend the whole day wrapping things and making sure they won’t break. The floor is usually covered in bits of bubble wrap or scraps of paper. It’s not the cleanest job, but it’s what we do. The smell of the market—onions and potatoes—drifts in sometimes when the wind is right. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the work going on inside. Most of our day is spent lifting heavy rolls and moving boxes around. It’s dusty work, so we keep the fans going at full speed. Sometimes we have to move the trucks out of the way because the lanes are narrow here. It’s a tight squeeze. We’ve got a routine down, though. One person cuts, one person wraps, one person labels. We drink a lot of water because it gets stuffy with all the packing supplies stacked to the ceiling. It’s just a regular local business trying to get the job done right in the middle of a very busy neighborhood. Nothing more to it than that. We just show up and start packing. Sometimes the rain makes it tough to load the vans, but we manage. We just keep our heads down and stay busy.
