Banke Bihari Udyog

At Banke Bihari Udyog, we spend our days surrounded by fabric and the sound of machines. Our workshop is in Gurudev Nagar, right in the Textile Colony area. The specific spot is 0.208333333333333, which is a bit of a strange number, but that's what's on the papers. Being in the textile colony means we're around people who do the same kind of work. We handle a lot of different materials here. It gets very dusty with all the lint flying around, so we have to clean the floors a couple of times a day. It’s not a glamorous place. There are rolls of cloth stacked against the walls and threads of all colors hanging from the racks. We mostly just focus on getting the work done and keeping the machines running smooth. If a belt snaps, we fix it and keep going. My family has been doing this for a long time, and we just moved into this space to have a bit more room. It's a practical setup. We have a small area for cutting and a bigger area for the actual manufacturing. The lighting isn't the best, but we've got enough lamps to see what we're doing. People come by to drop off orders or pick up finished goods. We don't spend money on fancy signs or anything. We just stay busy with the work at hand. It's a loud, busy place, but we like it that way. We just keep our heads down and keep the machines moving.
