Z Men

If you are walking down Aliganj Road in Kapoorthala, you might miss Z Men if you aren't looking closely. We are tucked away in Swaroop Arcade at Shop No 1, right under New Geeta Vastralaya. It is a busy part of Lucknow, and parking can be a bit of a headache sometimes. The shop isn't huge, but it fits what we need. We mostly do hair and beard trims for the guys in the neighborhood. It’s a bit of a basement vibe being under the clothes shop, so it stays a little cooler in the summer months. I spend a lot of time cleaning the mirrors and making sure the clippers are sharp. Most of the customers are students or people working nearby who just want a straightforward trim. We don't do all those fancy treatments you see on TV. It’s just a place to get your hair sorted and maybe have a chat about the cricket score. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit when the main power switches, but we've gotten used to it. The chairs have some wear on the armrests from years of use. It feels like a real part of the local market here. People know me by name, and I know how they like their sideburns. It is just a regular shop doing regular work for the men of Lucknow. No big fuss about it. The water in the sink takes a moment to get warm, and the door squeaks when it opens.
