You can find us over in Sector 6B of the Vrindavan Yojana area. It’s a group of us working together in a space that’s mostly filled with big bags of raw materials and long tables. We usually start quite early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. There is a lot of chatter while we work, mostly talking about what’s happening in the neighborhood or what we’re cooking for dinner later. We have a routine where some people handle the prep work while others deal with the packing. The floor is concrete and we have a few mats spread out. It’s not a fancy setup by any means. We have some industrial-sized scales that we use to weigh everything out, and they make a loud clunking noise every time. In the afternoons, we take a break and sit together to eat. The wind sometimes blows a lot of dust in from the construction happening nearby in Vrindavan Yojana, so we have to keep the windows shut tight. It gets a bit stuffy, but we have a couple of fans that help move the air around. We’re just local women trying to keep the work going and get the orders out the door. It’s a simple life here in Sector 6B, and we just focus on getting through the tasks we have for the day without too much fuss. We usually finish up by the time the evening shadows get long.
