You will find us on the first floor of the Vivek building in Gomti Nagar. It is in Khand-3, which is a fairly quiet part of the area compared to the main roads. We are the Indian Textiles & Handicrafts Exports Promotion Organization, but that is a bit of a mouthful for daily use. Mostly, we just say we are at the Gomti Nagar office. The space is filled with stacks of folders and some sample pieces of cloth and carvings that have been sitting on the shelves for a long time. There are a few big windows that let in some light, but the view is just of the street and the trees outside. We spend our time helping people understand how to send their handmade goods to other countries. It involves a lot of explaining the same rules over and over. We have a few old computers and a printer that jams whenever we are in a hurry. The office has that specific smell of old paper and tea. We aren't a high-pressure environment. We just move through the files and talk to the artisans who come in for advice. It is a lot of administrative work, really. Sometimes it gets a bit slow, and we just sit and talk about what we are having for lunch. It is a steady, predictable kind of place to work, and we like the neighborhood quite a bit.
