Sarkar General Store

You can find us on Unity Road in the Hussainabad area of Lucknow. Sarkar General Store is just a small place among many others on this street. We sell a variety of things like spices, pulses, and household items. The shop is quite old, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it serves its purpose. Hussainabad is a place with a lot of history, but our shop is just a practical spot for the people who live here. We open up pretty early because people need milk and bread for breakfast. I usually sit on a small stool near the entrance so I can see everyone coming and going. The street outside is always full of rickshaws and people talking. Sometimes it gets so loud I can barely hear what the customers are asking for. I keep everything in glass jars so people can see what they are buying. We don't have a computer or anything, just a simple paper bill if someone really needs one. Most people just pay cash and go. My father started this place, and I just kept it going the same way he did. We don't have any grand plans to expand or anything. We just want to make sure the shelves aren't empty when someone comes looking for something. It’s just a neighborhood store, plain and simple.
