Sanjay Kiran Store

Sanjay Kiran Store is right here in the Ambedkar Market area of Aliganj Bazar. Being in Lucknow, especially around Kataha, means there is plenty of foot traffic throughout the day. Our shop is pretty straightforward, with shelves lining every bit of wall space we have. We keep mostly groceries and daily essentials that people in the neighborhood need for their homes. The morning starts with sweeping the floor and rearranging the packets that might have shifted. It is a small business, so we do everything ourselves, from lifting the heavy sacks of rice to counting the small change. The market is quite old, and our store fits right in with the others on the street. We have a small stool behind the counter where we sit when things are slow. The light isn't the brightest, but it is enough to see the labels on the tins and bags. Most people who come in live just a few minutes away. We talk about the weather or the local news while we weigh out the items they need. There is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a little bit when it is on high. It is a plain, honest shop where you can get your kitchen staples without any fuss. We have been here a long time and the shop looks much the same as it did years ago when we started.
