Sakhi

Sakhi is located on the first floor of the Shubhkamna Banquets building in Indira Nagar. It’s at A 250, and most people find us by looking for Sewa Chicken nearby. Being upstairs makes it a little quieter than being right on the street level, which is nice when you are trying to get your hair done. We are in a big residential pocket of Lucknow, so we get a lot of neighbors coming in. Since we are in the same building as a banquet hall, we end up doing a lot of work for people who are attending functions right here. It’s a convenient setup for them. The space is decent sized and we have it set up with different stations for beauty work. It isn't a place with a lot of corporate branding or fancy uniforms. We just wear what is comfortable and get on with the job. You will find us doing everything from basic threading to more involved hair styling. The light in the shop is good, and we try to keep a friendly vibe where anyone can feel okay walking in. We don't spend much time on decorations; we focus more on the tools and the chairs. It’s just a local spot where women can come to take care of themselves. We have been here at A 250 for a while and the routine stays pretty much the same every day. We usually have the radio playing softly while we work.
