Parag Milk Bar

Lucknow can be really hot in the summer, and that’s when the milk bar gets the busiest. We are over in the Shiv Complex in Indira Nagar, right near the Sector 17 Sabji Mandi. Being so close to the vegetable market means it’s always crowded and loud from very early in the morning. We spend a lot of time making sure the refrigerators are running right because nobody wants warm milk or curd. It’s not a fancy place to sit down; it’s more about people coming in and out quickly to grab their dairy products or a cold drink. The floors are often a bit wet from the ice and the crates being moved around. We have a few benches outside where people sometimes sit for a minute, but mostly it’s just a fast-paced environment. The morning rush starts around 5 AM, and we are usually half-awake when the first customers show up for their packets. We don’t have a big menu or anything like that. It’s just fresh milk, paneer, and some basic dairy items. Sometimes the electricity goes off and we have to worry about the stock, but that’s just part of the business here. We are just local people trying to make a living by providing something everyone needs. It’s loud, messy, and very busy, but it is our daily life. The vegetable sellers often come by for a cold lassi when they have a break.
