Kumar General Store

We opened up Kumar General Store quite a while back now. It is right here in Pream Bazar, over in the Maha Nagar part of Nishatganj. Most people know us because we are so close to the railway crossing. It gets pretty noisy when the trains go by, but you get used to it after a few years. We keep the usual things people need for their homes. If you are walking down from the station, you will probably see our blue shutters. Some days are busier than others, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing for milk or bread. The shop isn't fancy at all. We have wooden shelves that have been here since the start and they are a bit worn out now. Lucknow weather can be really hot, so we usually sit under the fan when there aren't many customers. It’s just a small family thing. We know most of the neighbors by their names. My nephew helps out sometimes when I have to go to the market to pick up new stock. We try to keep the staples like pulses and soap always available so nobody has to go far. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside on the plastic chairs. It is a simple life here near the tracks. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the shop and our regular faces coming in every day for their bits and pieces.
