Khan Ice Cream

Khan Ice Cream is situated in Indira Nagar. We are quite close to the Amrapali Crossing, which is a busy spot. There is always something happening outside our door. We have been running this place for a good while. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside. We have a simple counter and some storage in the back. The main work is keeping the ice cream at the right consistency. If it gets too hard, it’s difficult to scoop. If it’s too soft, it melts before the customer can even walk out the door. We spend a lot of time adjusting the dials on the freezer. The crossing gets jammed with traffic in the evenings, so we get a lot of people who stop by while they are stuck. We recognize most of the rickshaw drivers who work this area. They usually come in for a quick cup. We don't have a lot of variety, just enough to keep people happy. Sometimes the lights flicker when the grid is overloaded. We just keep a flashlight handy and keep going. My youngest son helps me on his days off from school. He likes to talk to the customers, but I tell him to focus on the serving. We keep the place clean, or at least as clean as you can with a dusty road right outside. It’s a decent living for our family and we enjoy the work.
