Jkismat Brand Mustard Oils Private Limited

Over in Lalganj, specifically in Ward-16 of Ataullahpur, we run the mustard oil business. People here know the smell of mustard seeds being crushed; it’s a very distinct scent that stays on your clothes all day. We operate as Jkismat Brand Mustard Oils. The Milki area is where we have our setup. It’s not a large factory, just a practical space where we can get the work done. We deal with a lot of local farmers who bring in their seeds after the harvest. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy tins and moving sacks around the floor. My hands are usually stained or oily, but that's just part of the job. We don’t use any high-tech machines that do everything automatically. There is a lot of watching and waiting to make sure the oil comes out right. The power goes out sometimes, which can be a real pain when we are in the middle of a batch. We just sit outside and wait for it to come back on. Our neighbors know us well, and sometimes they come by to buy a bottle directly from the source. We don't have a sales team. We just rely on the fact that people need oil for their cooking every single day. It’s a steady life here in Lalganj and we have been at it for a while.
