Janta Store

Janta Store is a small business located in Dharamshala Bazar in Lucknow. We have been here for a long time and the shop has become a regular stop for many families in the area. The bazar is a very crowded place and our store is no different. We have items piled up in every available space which can make it a bit hard to move around sometimes. We don't have any staff or employees. It is just our family running the place and we take turns behind the counter. Lucknow is a city with a lot of tradition and we try to keep that feeling in our shop. We don’t have a fancy logo or a big sign outside. Most people find us just by knowing the bazar. We sell all kinds of general items that people need for their homes. We don't have a website or any way to order online. You just have to come in and talk to us. We enjoy the daily interactions with our customers and hearing the local gossip. It is a very different atmosphere than the big shopping malls. We don't use a lot of technology. Most of our records are kept in simple notebooks. We open up early in the morning and we don't close the shutters until everyone else in the bazar starts to head home. It is a lot of work but it is what we do to get by.
