Jaiswal General Store

Jaiswal General Store is a small shop at Gt-234 in Churiwali Gali. This is in the Udaiganj area of Lucknow. We are quite close to the Yadav Lassi Bhandar, which is a place most people know around here. Our store sells all kinds of small household things and general items. Churiwali Gali is a narrow street, so it’s mostly people walking or on cycles. We’ve been here for a long time and have seen many generations of families come and go. The shop is small and the shelves are made of old wood. We keep everything from matchboxes to laundry soap. It gets very hot in Lucknow during the summer, so we have a small fan that runs all day. We spend a lot of time chatting with the people who live in the gali. They stop by to buy one or two things and stay for a few minutes to talk. It’s a very social place. Sometimes we have to move some of our stock outside just to make room to stand inside. We don’t have any fancy computers, just a calculator and a ledger. My family has always run this store and we don’t plan on changing much. It’s just a reliable place where you can get your daily things without any fuss. We open early and close when the street gets dark. It is just our daily routine in Lucknow.
