Alvi Trader

You can find us over on IIM Road. It is a very busy area these days with all the new buildings going up and the constant traffic of trucks and cars. Alvi Trader is a small operation, mostly just me and a couple of guys who help with the heavy lifting. We deal with a lot of different supplies and trade goods that come in and out. The shop is usually filled with stacks of boxes and crates, so there isn't much room to move around. I spend a lot of my day on the phone talking to drivers and making sure things are arriving on time. It gets very dusty here because of the road, so I have to sweep the floor at least three times a day. The office is just a simple wooden desk pushed into the corner with a lamp that hums. Sometimes the shipments are late and it makes for a long evening of waiting around. We don't have any big signs or a big storefront to show off. Most people just know us by word of mouth. I like the location because it’s easy for the big lorries to pull in, even if the traffic is a headache. My tea always gets cold before I can finish it because someone is always knocking. The walls are covered in old calendars and notes I’ve scribbled. It is hard work and the days are long, but we keep things moving as best as we can. It’s just a practical business for practical people.
