Gupta General Store

We’ve been here at Shop No.7 in Chaupatiya for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot near the Chaupatiya Chawraha in Lucknow, and most people around here know where to find us. My day starts early, usually opening up the shutters before the main crowd hits the road. We stock all sorts of things people need for their homes, from snacks and drinks to washing soaps and basic kitchen stuff. It’s not a big fancy place, just a regular shop where we try to keep things organized enough so you can find what you’re looking for quickly. The neighborhood has changed a bit over the years, but the atmosphere around here is still the same. You see the same faces every day, neighbors stopping by for a packet of milk or some sugar while they chat for a minute. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work, but we manage. I try to keep the shelves full because you never know what someone might ask for. It is just me and a couple of helpers sometimes. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here at the corner. It's a simple life running a store in Lucknow. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the regulars get what they need without any fuss. It’s practical work and keeps us busy from morning till the night when things finally quiet down.
