Gopal General Store

The shop has been sitting here on Abdul Aziz Road for a good while now. It is right near Sandohan Mandir in the Chaupatiyan area of Lucknow. Most days, things start early when the first few people come by for their morning milk or some bread. We have a lot of stuff packed onto the shelves, from soaps and detergents to various snacks that the kids like to grab after school. It gets a bit crowded in the afternoons, especially when the weather is nice and everyone is out walking. There is always something to do, like checking the stock or cleaning the glass jars. We know most of the people who live around here by their names. It is a simple place, nothing fancy at all. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next delivery to come through the narrow streets. You can find us easily because of the temple nearby. We try to keep the staples ready so people don't have to go far for small things. It's just a regular part of the neighborhood. The fan hums in the corner and we spend a lot of time just chatting with whoever stops in for a minute. There are boxes stacked in the back and sometimes the lights flicker a bit when it rains. It is just how things are here in Lucknow. We keep the doors open all day until the sun goes down and the street gets quiet again.
