Gayatri Chikan Industries

Gayatri Chikan Industries is situated at Lgf-38 in the Arohi Trade Centre, right near the Chowk. Being on the lower ground floor means we don't get much of a view, but it’s a good spot because people are always passing through the building. The Chowk area is always loud and crowded, so it’s actually a bit quieter once you come down the stairs to our shop. We deal with Chikan work, which takes a lot of time and patience. You can usually see a few of us sitting under the bright lights checking the stitching on various pieces. The shop is filled with bags and bundles of fabric waiting to be sorted. We don't have a fancy display window like the shops upstairs. We just have our shelves packed tight. Some days it feels a bit cramped in here, especially when a new shipment arrives and we have nowhere to put it. We've been at the Trade Centre for quite a while now. Most of our regular customers know to look for us downstairs. We don't use any big words or fancy talk to sell things. If someone likes the work, they buy it. We keep a small stove in the corner for making tea, which we offer to anyone who stays long enough to chat. It’s a busy life but we enjoy being part of the market scene here. We just take it one day at a time.
