Gangotri Departmental Store

We have been here at Gangotri Departmental Store in Maruti Puram for quite some time now. If you know the area near Faizabad Road, you probably know where we are, right near Lekhraj Khazana. It gets pretty busy around here during the evenings. We spend most of our mornings just moving boxes around and making sure things are where they should be on the shelves. It’s a lot of work just keeping track of everything that comes in and out. Sometimes the lights flicker or the fan makes a weird noise, but that’s just how it is in an old building in Lucknow. We see the same faces every day, people stopping by on their way home from work to pick up stuff they forgot. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or anything, just a regular store where we try to keep enough stock so nobody leaves empty-handed. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust from the main road. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us here making sure the doors stay open from morning until late at night. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just sit and watch the traffic go by on Maruti Puram. Then suddenly, five people walk in at once and we’re all rushing to help them find what they need. It’s a simple life running a shop here in this part of town. We just keep going, day after day, year after year, just like everyone else around here.
