Firoz General Store

Firoz General Store is situated right at Medical Chauraha, near the Medical College in Lucknow. Being so close to the Charak Diagnostic Center means we are in one of the busiest spots in the city. There is always an ambulance siren or people rushing around. Because of the location, we keep a lot of things that people might need in a hurry, like bottled water, snacks, or basic toiletries. The shop is always buzzing with activity. I start my day early because the hospital area never really rests. The shelves are a bit of a mix—you’ll find notebooks next to toothbrushes and jars of toffee next to packets of milk. It’s a little bit of everything. Sometimes it gets so crowded at the counter that I lose track of who came first, but we manage. The dust from the chauraha settles on everything, so I’m constantly wiping down the glass jars. It’s a loud place to work, with all the rickshaws and vendors shouting outside, but you get used to the rhythm after a few months. I don't have any big plans for the shop, just keeping it running and making sure we have what people are looking for when they step in. It’s a practical kind of business, serving whoever walks through the door, whether they are doctors, students, or families from the hospital.
