Baba Gugla General Store

We've been running Baba Gugla General Store in the Hari Har Nagar area for quite some time now. It’s a quiet part of Indira Nagar compared to the main roads. Most of our customers are the same people we see every single day. We know who wants the extra-large detergent and who only buys the small pouches. The shop is tucked away a bit, so you have to know where you’re going to find us. We keep the usual household items that families run out of mid-week. There’s no big display window or bright lights here. Just a few glass jars on the counter filled with sweets and a lot of metal shelves holding the heavier stuff. Sometimes the cat from next door wanders in and we have to shoo it out before it gets into the biscuits. Dealing with the heat in Lucknow during the peak months is tough, but the thick walls of the building keep it somewhat cool inside. We don't have a delivery van or anything like that. If someone lives close by and can't carry a heavy bag of flour, we might help them out if the shop isn't busy. It’s just a small family-run thing. We don’t aim to be the biggest store around. We just want to make sure the people living on our street have a place to get their daily needs without a fuss. It is a long day from start to finish but it works.
