Appu General Store

Appu General Store is located right on Hardoi Road in Sarai Mali Khan. It’s a busy spot here in Lucknow, and the traffic noise outside never really stops during the day. We have been running this small shop for quite some time now, selling mostly the basic things people need for their kitchens and homes. You’ll find things like biscuits, washing powder, matches, and different kinds of spices here. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or big signs. It’s just a simple room filled with wooden shelves and plastic containers. Most of our customers are neighbors who have been living in Sarai Mali Khan for many years. They come in to buy a single packet of milk or maybe some bread in the morning. Sometimes we just sit and talk about the weather or how the prices of things keep going up every month. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when people are returning from work and realize they forgot to buy something for dinner. We don’t use any computers here, just a simple ledger and a calculator to keep track of what’s happening. Dealing with the suppliers can be a headache sometimes when the trucks get stuck in the narrow lanes, but we manage. We just want to make sure the shelves aren't empty when someone walks in. It’s a simple way to earn a living and stay connected with the community in this part of town.
