Agarwal Provision Store

We’ve been here at Agarwal Provision Store in the Ban Wali Gali Chowk area for a while now. Hardoi Road is usually busy, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing to get their things before work starts. We mostly stock the usual stuff like dal, rice, sugar, and some snacks for the kids. It’s not a very big space, but we try to keep things organized on the shelves so people can find what they need without asking too many questions. Sometimes the rain makes the street outside a bit messy, but customers still drop by on their way home. My brother and I take turns sitting at the counter throughout the day. We know most of the faces that walk through the door because they live right around the corner here in Lucknow. We don't really have a fancy way of doing things. We just open up early, check what is running low, and write it down in a worn-out notebook. If someone needs a specific brand of tea or soap, we try to keep it ready for them. The afternoon gets a bit quiet when it's hot outside, so that is usually when we rest or rearrange the heavy sacks of flour. It’s just a regular shop where people come to get their daily supplies. We don’t talk much about business goals or anything like that, we just make sure the weights are right and the change is ready. Life in Chowk moves at its own pace.
