Agarwal General Store

Agarwal General Store is tucked away in the Chowk area of Lucknow. We are at 311/19A on Kamla Nehru Marg. If you know this part of the city, you know how busy and narrow the streets can get. Our shop is full of all sorts of things, from household items to small snacks. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to stock as much as possible for our customers. We’ve been part of the Chowk community for a long time. It’s a noisy place with scooters honking and people talking loudly, but we like it. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket. We just want to make sure the people living nearby can get what they need without going too far. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it takes us a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. We work long hours, usually six or seven days a week. Kamla Nehru Marg is always full of life. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in. We talk to our neighbors and keep an eye on the street. It’s a very local way of doing things. The building is old and shows its age, but it’s our home. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next person to walk in. That is how we have always done it here and it seems to work out okay.
