Working inside the Jahangirabad Palace is a bit strange sometimes. We are up on the first floor at 12 Rani Laxmi Bai Marg, right in the heart of Hazratganj. It’s an old building with high ceilings and thick walls, which helps keep things a bit cooler, though the Lucknow heat still finds its way in. It’s a very busy area, being near the D M Bungalow, and the noise from the street downstairs is constant. We spend our days at the office handling the paperwork and talking on the phones. It's not like the plant where things are dusty; here it's more about the folders and the meetings. The stairs are a bit steep and they creak every time someone walks up to see us. Sometimes it's hard to find parking because Hazratganj is always packed with cars and shoppers. We've been in this palace building for a while now, and it has a certain feel to it that you don't get in a modern office block. Most of us just bring our lunch and eat at our desks while we look out at the trees. It’s a lot of routine stuff, checking reports and making sure the numbers match up. We aren't doing anything flashy, just the daily grind of keeping the business side of things moving along. It’s just us here, doing what we need to do in a busy part of town.
