A S R General Store

Setting up the shop every morning on Abdul Aziz Road takes some time because there are so many small items to arrange. We are located near the taxi stand in Chaupatiyan, so we see a lot of different faces throughout the day. Some are locals from Lucknow just picking up their daily groceries, while others are drivers or passengers looking for a quick bottle of water or some biscuits before they head out. It is a busy spot. The shelves are mostly full of things people need for their kitchens, like spices, pulses, and oils. We also have the usual household cleaners and toiletries. It isn't a huge place, so things can get a little cramped when more than three people are inside at once. Sometimes the noise from the taxis outside makes it hard to hear, but we manage. We’ve been at this location for a while and have seen the neighborhood change bit by bit. The stone floor is a bit worn down from all the footsteps over the years. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy, just the goods in the window and the open door. It's practical. We spend the quiet hours sorting through the new stock that comes in large sacks. It keeps us busy from morning till the evening breeze starts to cool down the street. Sometimes the local kids come in looking for a specific candy, and we have to hunt through the jars for it. It's just work, but it's steady.
