Jigmat Couture

You will find Jigmat Couture right opposite the District Library. It is a pretty easy spot to locate if you are in the area. We work out of this shop and it’s a place where we put a lot of ourselves into what we make. We focus on clothing that has a bit of a traditional feel but works for today too. It is not a big factory or anything like that. It’s more of a workshop where you can hear the sound of needles and people talking quietly while they work. We use a lot of local materials because that is what is available and what we know best. The shop has a very relaxed atmosphere, almost like you are just visiting someone's home. We don't have a big marketing plan or a fancy website. Most of the people who come here heard about us from a friend or just walked by on their way to the library. There are piles of wool and silk everywhere, and sometimes the place feels a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. We take our time with things because you can't rush this kind of work. It is just a few of us here every day, making sure every stitch is right. We like being part of the local community and seeing familiar faces walk through the door. It’s a quiet life but we find it very satisfying.
