We set up Kalpavraksha Seeds Farmer Producer Company Limited at Balaji Tukaram Kadam’s place in Daaba Kadam. It's located in the Renapur Taluka of Latur, so we are right in the middle of where the actual farming happens. Our office is basically a part of the house, which makes it easy for local farmers to just walk in and talk to us. We deal with seeds and all the stuff that goes along with that, which keeps us busy all through the year. Latur can get really hot, so we usually start our work early in the morning before the sun gets too high. There’s always bags of something or other sitting on the porch. We aren't some big corporation from a city; we’re just a group of people from Renapur trying to manage our own produce and seeds better. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to do everything by hand, but that’s just life in a village. Balaji’s house is a well-known spot, so people don't have trouble finding us. We talk about the weather and the crops more than we talk about business figures. It’s a simple setup because that’s all we really need to get the job done. We don't have uniforms or a fancy reception desk. It’s just us sitting around a table, looking at ledgers and making sure the seeds are ready for the next planting. We just keep it moving one day at a time.
